I don't think either the Chief or Samus can afford the luxury of romance.

The Chief in particular has no interest in that. He began training as a solder since the age of six. The military is his life. The female members of his squad are like sisters to him.

I don't believe Samus' case is much different. Her innocense ended at the age of three years old when the Space Pirates raided her home and killed everyone she knew. Ridley himself murdered her mother and she watched it happen. She was raised by the ancient Chozo race to become a warrior and protect the galaxy.

As for a personnal life, not much is known, or there is nothing to be known, but her relationship with her former CO Adam Malkovich holds a lot of questions, most of which I'm hoping the new upcoming Metroid game will answer.

Anyway, in my story, I try to forge a bond of trust, partnership and companionship between Samus and John-117. My fiction is story-driven, so it's not just about those two.

I don't know if this answered your question, but I couldn't post this on the chapter because I don't want to shatter other readers' expectations... At least the ones who don't directly ask.
